What does it mean to say that you need to Forget the past because You are now a New person?

Newness of life! “If anyone is in Christ Jesus, he (or she) is a new creation; old things have gone, new things have come!”

Our old lives were often full of despair; of sin; of regrets; of unhappiness; of serving ourselves and not serving God. Our new lives once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior can be filled with the fruits of God’s Holy Spirit — peace, and love, and joy, and patience, and kindness, and gentleness, and faithfulness, and self-control. The Kingdom of God can reign in your life and in mine.

How do we experience the kingdom of God in our life? First, we must accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. We must also repent — which means to turn from our own ways and from sin and turn to God. Ask forgiveness of your sins. Then ask the Holy Spirit of God to come into your heart and life and fill you full of God’s love, and His life, and His Holy Spirit. You can experience newness of life.

Finally, focus your mind on things that are good. “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about these things.” Set your minds on the things that are of God and not on the things on earth. Focus on Jesus Christ and His kingdom and fill your thoughts with what is good — and let Jesus Christ transform your life and make everything new.
