WHY GOD ALLOWS WEAKNESSES OR THORN IN THE FLESH?

We may ask why we are not confident like others; or why we lack Physical traits such as intelligence compared to others? We may also ask why we are victims of physical deformities and many other forms of limitations. And to make the story short, why God allowed weaknesses in every aspect of our lives or why thorn in the flesh?

You will be tempted to conclude that God is not treating fairly to some or even to me.

But there is always a reason why God puts major weaknesses to major strengths and that is because He wants us to remain humble and seek Him always.

12:7-10 The apostle paul gives an account of the method God took to keep him humble, and to prevent his being lifted up above measure, on account of the visions and revelations he had.

We are not told what this thorn in the flesh was, whether some great trouble, or some great temptation. But God often brings this good out of evil that the reproaches of our enemies help to hide pride from us.

If God loves us, he will keep us from being exalted above measure; and spiritual burdens are ordered to cure spiritual pride. This thorn in the flesh is said to be a messenger of Satan which he sent for evil; but God designed it, and overruled it for good.

Prayer is a salve for every sore, a remedy for every malady; and when we are afflicted with thorns in the flesh or weaknessess, we should give ourselves to prayer. If an answer be not given to the first prayer, or to the second, we are to continue praying.

Troubles are sent to teach us to pray; and are continued, to teach us to continue instant in prayer. Though God accepts the prayer of faith, yet he does not always give what is asked for: as he sometimes grants in wrath, so he sometimes denies in love.

When God does not take away our troubles and temptations, yet, if he gives grace enough for us, we have no reason to complain. Grace signifies the good-will of God towards us, and that is enough to enlighten and enliven us, sufficient to strengthen and comfort in all afflictions and distresses. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Thus his grace is manifested and magnified. When we are weak in ourselves, then we are strong in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; when we feel that we are weak in ourselves, then we go to Christ, receive strength from him, and enjoy most the supplies of Divine strength and grace.

OUR DAILY STRUGGLE..WHO IS OUR ENEMY?

Subject: Spiritual Attack
Theme: Gaining the Victory Over All Spiritual Attack
Passage: Ephesians 6: 10 - 20

One of the aspects of truth that evangelicals have been slow to catch unto is the intensity of the battle in which we are engaged and what my part is in that battle. In another section of scripture we read about the world, the flesh and the devil - we are going to concentrate in this study on the devil.
Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints––"

We began the study of the letter to the Ephesians with the blessings of the Christian life, with the joy of being chosen by God, accepted in the beloved, redeemed by His blood, forgiven of all our sins, so that in the ages to come we might be to the praise of God's grace.

We learned how we who once were dead towards God in our sin, were made alive by faith in Christ, how we were brought into the church in which all distinctions have been removed so that Jews and Gentile believers form one body in Christ.

As we came into the second half of Ephesians we were challenged to no longer walk in the same way the rest of the world walks, but to turn away from all sinful ways, walking in the love of Christ, walking in light of God's truth, walking in the wisdom of God in our homes, in our families and in our workplace.

In other words, all of life has been transformed by our relationship with Jesus Christ. Now we are coming to the end, but before Paul wraps up his instruction, like any good preacher, he has a "Finally, my brethren,"

What does he want to say to us in this final word? He wants to remind us of the Christian's ongoing spiritual battle. You are not home yet!

1. The Battle:

Every person is engaged in this battle whether you want to be or not. And every person is on one side or the other - either on Satan's side or on God's side. You were born on the enemy's side and that is why you had to be born again. You may have thought that crossing the lines through faith in Christ was going to get you off the firing line into the territory of peace and you may have been surprised to find that in fact faith in Christ just intensified your problems. The answer is very simple. It is simply the truth that when you started considering crossing the lines Satan turned up the heat - he marshalled all his forces to stop you from doing so, and he probably used your own desires, fears, pride, jealousy, envy, and every other foul thing to try to trip you up while at the same time stirring up opposition from other people around you - often those you love the most. We had better understand that our enemy is ruthless, and powerful and has his allies within your own being; all around you in the persons who do not know God, even if they may appear to be religious; and in the spirit world itself through all the demons at his command.

Warren Wiersbe puts it graphically, "The Christian life is not a playground; it is a battleground." Another writer puts it this way, "For the Christian, the world is an arena, not an armchair." Yes, the Christian life is a warfare; we live in enemy territory.

So if you don't want a fight, I'm afraid I have both good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that there is no way to avoid this battle. The good news is that Christ has already won it, and in yielding your life to Him He has adequate resources to help you win the victory also, and He fully plans for you to WIN!

So right at the beginning, he tells you to be strong. Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

2. The Enemy:

a. There is an enemy.

He is called Satan, and he is a real, a powerful, a malicious and an utterly evil being. The Bible unambiguously tells us that Satan, as the "god of this age" (2 Cor. 4:4) and "the prince of this world" (John 12:31, 14:30) has been allowed by God to have his own dominion of darkness (Col. 1:13) and to war against the kingdom of light (Col. 1:12). Other names applied to him are "ruler of the kingdom of the air", "the evil one" (2 Thes. 3:3 etc.), "the tempter" (Matt. 4:3). "the accuser" (= 'Satan', Zech. 3:1), "(our) enemy, the devil" (1 Peter 5:8), "a roaring lion" (1 Peter 5:8), "an enormous red dragon" Rev. 12:3) and "the serpent" (Rev. 12:9).

b. His character:

"the wiles of the devil." "schemes". "cunning devices".

He is the master of seduction and deception. One of his most effective deceptions is to convince people that he really doesn't exist, that there is no intelligent being behind the evil in the world. The scriptures say that he is fully capable of "(blinding) the minds of unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of God" (2 Cor. 4:4). Though in reality a "roaring lion" (1 Peter 5:8), yet he presents himself as "an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14). Words like subtle, fraudulent, unscrupulous and malicious come to mind. Our Lord referred to him as "a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44).

Probably the devil's most deadly 'stratagem' is that of religious deception, be it through the cults, or false prophets and teachers, or liberal theologians or gospel hucksters. The New Age movement reminds us of Satan's original temptation, "You shall be like god, knowing good and evil." Satan is incredibly dangerous.

c. Not flesh and blood v. 12- It is important for us to realize that our enemy is not that other person, even if he or she is attacking you. How often people make that mistake and get involved in a wrangling match with a person, whether in the home or in the church. How Satan loves it when he can stir up strife in a church and turn people against one another. How sad that the unsaved people in the world can excuse their own unbelief by pointing to professing Christians as unlovely, unkind, unchristian in their words and actions. Satan has no more effective weapons than Christians who have been turned aside to fight battles against fellow Christians.

d. His organization;

12 "but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."

It would appear that Satan was successful in drawing at least 1/3 of the angels of God after him in his original fall. It would appear as though these demonic forces are fully organized in their struggle to overthrow God through their attack on God's people.

principalities - probably indicates that these fallen angels have retained the rank of ruling dignitaries;

powers invested with authority to exercise such rule.

rulers of the darkness of this age speaks of the realm in which they operate: the world in its present state of spiritual darkness.

spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. - the invisible horde "whose appetite for evil only exceeds their capacity for producing it (Eadie)

e. His effectiveness:

Satan's effectiveness is found in the allies he has even within our own beings. I mentioned earlier that the Bible tells us of the world, the flesh and the devil, and this reminds us of the fact that we are still living in the world around us, with all of its sinful, worldly thinking and ways. - the world - all that is ungodly and opposed to the rule and reign of God. We are still influenced by those old thought patterns which once were our own.

Then there is the enemy within -the flesh, the old nature - sold out to the enemy - subject to old appetites; to old habit patterns; old thought patterns. Praise God that when we became a Christian God placed within our heat His new nature which is pure and righteous and holy. The Holy Spirit came to live in our hearts, and He gave us a love for God, a love for the good, and the uplifting and the holy. But we still have a battle with our old way of life.

- the devil - a lion - seeking whom he may devour; the angel of light seeking to seduce the unwary; murder and mixture; defeat and compromise;

When you consider all of the advantages that Satan has, is it not a wonder that we have any success in this battle at all? And yet we do. Praise God. Jesus has won the victory over the enemy and he designs that His children shall also win the victory. So the question is, How may we win the victory against this spiritual opposition which we face?

11 Put on the whole armor of God, .... 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Conclusion:

This reminds us that God has provided everything we need in order to win the battle against this enemy. God expects us to win. Even when we lose, God uses even our losses to show us His forgiveness, His kindness, His mercy, His compassion. To study the nature of the armour God has provided though is too large a study for this morning, so we shall have to leave it for next week.

But let me leave with you this final thought. The scripture shows over and over that Satan cannot go one step beyond what God allows him to go. Therefore, God is the victor, and we have the victory in Him.

Amen.

IS IT STILL POSSIBLE TO PRAISE GOD IN TIMES OF TROUBLES? HOW??

I am Rick Pila, 38 years old on the 25th of July 2007. I am Presently addressing to all that Praising God during happy moments is very easy to do but how about when you lost your Job? When one of your loveones dies? if you where not receiving answers to your prayers? Or during the time where God is silent everytime you pray? How can you praise God if life is a disaster to you? How about if life does not makes sense? This are the following questions we need to consider in Praising God.

As you know, The bible says that we should not live by sight but by faith which means that you have to Honor God and give Him praises not only in times of harvest;meaning, let us not praise God only when things go well such as having Nice house, Cars, financial breakthrought and successful job. But rather we should praise God because of Who He is? and What He is?..The greatest sacrifice we can offer God is when we give Him praises in tough times. We should realized that God never change no matter what situation we are facing. Because it is very high form of worship when you praise God in times of toubles and sufferings. It really touch the heart of God when He sees you praising Him despite of pain nad problems.

It is evident in the bible, how God tested Job by many troubles such as losing his children, wealth and eventually his health yet he says that: "The Lord gave and the Lord take it away and let the name of the Lord be praise".. Job's trust in the Lord is continues and unwavering and at the end, God gave job back all what He had taken away and gave it back to job with multiplicity.. You have seen how God tested moses when his family disown him by seling him into slavery until he was accused falsely by his master's wife of raped and molestation and then he was thrown in prison without due cause and burden of proof and still He trusted the Lord that He will not leave him nor abandon so, at the end he was release in prison and made him the second in command in egypt..It is apparently bogus that God will never leaves nor forsake us whatever situation we are facing today because God's promise of Prosperity and success for us is marked in the book of Jeremiah 29:11 will always remains the same and will never change. So Moses forgave all his brothers who betrayed him by selling him into slavery;and because of this God raises him up and made all his brother be subject for his anger yet he still forgives them all despite the damage and pain his brothers had cause him.

Its a perfect example how moses trusted the Lord inspite of Hardship & Suffering. and it is very clear how the Lord rewarded him at the end..The lesson we can learn from the story of Moses, Job and the rest of God's followers who has done His will in all ages is clear that we too must realized that the sufferings we are facing now can never compare to the success and victory God has prepared if we will just trust Him even in times of Hardship and sufferings. The bible said:"If we will be humble and fear God, He will give us ,Wealth, Honor & Long Life"..proverbs 22:4; therefore, let us give praises to God no matter what we feel or state of life cause God will never keep His promises for those who do His will. The bible also said:"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you can ask anything in my name, and it shall be given to you".. From now on, let us all put our trust in the Lord and never rely on what you think you know because God can give us more than we could ever expect.

At the moment, I am enjoying my life trusting the Lord because I am not thingking of the present pain and hardship but rather I focus on the time that the Lord will fulfill His pormises, and that is: "We will be Prosperous and successful with brighter future and hope to face forward"..

WHEN PERSECUTIONS STRIKES! WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Dear Friend

Greetings!

As a Marketing manager of a Giant Company, there are so many people who want to rule and take over especially those who are already pioneer employees. It is clear that my function is promotions & business development but sometimes all my projects were not heard because many don’t understand it especially those who are not part of promotions and worst they will stop you from reaching your goal. In other words many are gossiping and trying to pull me down because they don’t want my ideas but they want theirs. As a Filipino, one of the culture is most Filipinos will not stand on what is right but rather being the nice guy always. I've tried it many times but it seems my project wont work if I am always pleasing everybody. I learned that the most difficult thing in life is trying to please everybody. I am surprise that even my boss which is the General manager cannot just simply stand for what is right because of so many people inside who are acting like big boss so I decided to just focus on my job instead of meddling others but I also found out that still my faith is being tested especially when one of the consultants always backlights me over promotions because he wants to take over but i just can do that or else I will be in hot water. It seems that almost every move I made is always being watch by him and worst he will even advertised the slightest error I made and always shouting at me knowing that I respected him a lot because of the age gap. The worst thing he did resulted most of the employees are already looking down on me and it is really very embarrassing on my part. I had sleepless nights and I cry out to the Lord, saying Lord! Lord! Why did you allow me to be humiliated like this? I haven’t done any wrongs and why is that person whom i trusted is the one backlighting me? as I read the bible, the spirit lead me to the verses stating:" Rejoice when people insult you and say many things against you and never pay wrong to the wrongs they did to you but rather gave them the other cheek as well if they slap you on the first cheek; and if they throw you stones, throw them bread instead Cause Vengeance is not our's but His then if you do that, God will bless everything you does".. as I meditated these verses, I started applying then one morning, The Owner of the Company wants to meet me; I felt so scared but i was very surprised that he just simply want to had a conversation with me about Marketing plans. After discussing it to him, He told me that he wants to meet me from time to time. When he heard that i was being pressured by the said consultant, He immediately called his attention and reprimanded him and told me that no one can touch me inside the company because I will be reporting directly to Him. To make the story short, God is indeed True in His promises that He will never forsake nor abandon you and Justice will be in His hands because as a child, he will not allow any to hurt his child. I am now enjoying and having a journey with the Person who discovered my talents in marketing and I firmly Believe that this is not an incident nor that it was because of my intelligence but rather the promises of God is always true no matter how or what you feel.

Regards

Rick
